We have just arrived in Moscow via the overnight train from St Petersburg. We are bleary-eyed, ready for breakfast and waiting for the bus. But we’re all here safely. The train trip was an experience of which I’m sure you’ll hear about in due time. Right now, I have just enough time to update you on how we’re doing. We did not have internet access in St Petersburg. We stayed at the SDA church and were given incredible hospitality. We have good memories and new friends.
Yesterday we toured St Petersburg on 2 buses, traveling all over the city and sampling good Russian food. In the afternoon, we visited Catherine’s Palace and have many pictures to share with you. Once we get to the seminary, I can upload some photos.
We will be spending the day touring around Moscow in 2 buses again, and we will get to the seminary this evening. I will post again hopefully by tomorrow. We’ll see how the wireless works!
Everyone is doing well – nobody is sick. And they all send their greetings home! Love to you all – until next post…
We’ve made it to St. Petersburg where we have plenty of snow on the ground with more falling. Everyone is doing well. We’ll be staying at the St. Petersburg church while here and have limited internet.
I’ll update more once we get to Zaoksky on Monday.
Getting off the plane at Heathrow Airport, we couldn’t really tell we were in another country. Everything in English, but they don’t have restrooms, they have male and female toilets
As we are waiting for our double decker bus to take us into London however, we know we are in another country watching the taxis and buses all drive on the wrong side of the road! Getting on the bus, write more later!!
All of our efforts have paid off, and by the grace of God – we are in Atlanta! We are all settled in at our gate, eating our “food court” dinners and enjoying each other’s company. The students are visibly excited about this trip! Please continue to pray for our safety, good health, and good spirits.
A big thanks to Bill Bass and Jimmy Buckner for driving the buses to Atlanta for us. We had great weather, sunshine and NO traffic!!!! Blessings…
Until we get to London, God bless.
We have 103 “hits” on this site so far, and we haven’t even left yet!! It’s nice to know that so many people are interested and will be praying for this trip. I imagine most of these “hits” are students and maybe some parents, but even so, it suggests that there are some excited (maybe a bit nervous) people out there! Well, if you’re looking for more details, here they are: (for the next 24 hours at least)
Today, Tuesday 5:00pm – students – PLEASE have your suitcase and sleeping bag in the Assembly Room no later than 5:00!!! The sponsors will be weighing and tagging all of the bags and loading them on the bus this evening.
Wednesday, 12:30pm – please meet at the bus with your carry-on. You need to wear your blue fleece. You MUST be seated on the bus by 12:45. You know which bus you are supposed to be on if you were listening at the meeting today. Look for your prayer group!
See you guys then!! London, here we come! By the way, it’s raining in London – bring a travel-size umbrella if you have one. It is snowing hard in St Petersburg right now – should be pretty by the time we get there on Friday!

Here we go! The countdown is on. Suitcases are being packed, visas are being processed, and last-minute details worked out. 7 months of planning have dwindled down to 9 days. It seems hard to believe (our director believes it!!).
If you are reading this blog, you are in some way connected to Fletcher Academy – student, parent, teacher, grandparent, friend. We’re so glad you want to follow our mission trip, and we ask that you keep us in your prayers. God has blessed us in so many ways, and we are looking forward with anticipation to the blessings He has in store!! So please pray for the Holy Spirit to keep us focused, for God to open people’s hearts to our message, for our safety, and for our students to be blessed in ways unimaginable.
We will try to post updates as often as possible once our trip begins. We may not always have great internet access, but will try our best to update daily at the least. We will also try to post pictures as we are able. We want you to share this journey with us! You can subscribe to this blog by email or an RSS feed by clicking on the link on the home page of this site.
Thanks for your interest and prayers! Until February 24…. God bless.
